OCEOMIC, Marine Bio and Technology S.L. has the main mission of eliminating the technological barriers that determines the advancement of knowledge in Marine Sciences. Since 2014, OCEOMIC develops and manufactures innovative equipment for oceanography and marine biotechnology fields. Its activity is focussed on the application of the state-of-the-art-advances to create custom designed products, as for example autonomous water samplers, real-time monitoring systems and photobioreactors. The continued combination of science and technology, coupled with our ability to find efficient solutions, has been identified by the clients as a major strength of OCEOMIC. Among the expected results of using OCEOMIC devices are an improvement of the environmental management and policy decision making, which eventually will result in increasing social well-being.

After successfully completing the development of a fixed buoy as a system for early detection of marine algal blooms, OCEOMIC face another challenge: a monitoring network for coastal waters. This network will take data from several sensors installed on fixed and mobile devices, thus allowing an increased autonomy and spacial coverage compared to traditional monitoring network. The collected information will be sent in real time to a land station, where it will be incorporated on a data platform which will allow visualization and management of data. The development of this solution will enable data acquisition of a great value for the stakeholders related to the marine environment (administration, smes, universities, research centers, citizens, etc.).
